2000 Trans Am Security Light On

2000 Trans Am Security Light On The Security light on my 2000 TA is on solid (not blinking) and stays on. The car starts and runs fine but I want to fix the issue before it leaves me stranded.
After a search it seems like the easiest fix is the resistor bypass. I bought a Gator bypass module and installed it. No difference. I even unplugged the connector to the lock cylinder and while it's unplugged the car will still start and the Security light comes on.
I also thought I might have set the wrong resistor value on the Gator, so I changed it to a different value - no change. Car still starts and Security light stays on.
Thoughts? All my search results lead me back to the resistor bypass as the answer, and that doesn't fix it.

No codes with my handheld OBD-II code reader. SES light is not on. I'd have to take it somewhere with a professional grade scan tool for anything more in depth. Would a place like AutoZone be able to read the security codes? If I have to pay a garage to diagnose it, I may as well just take it in and let them fix it.
