Question "Security" light, car won't start...VATS?

I have a 2000 Camaro/LS1/6L80. I'm still using the stock PCM and harness. I recently installed the 6L80 with the TCM-2600 harness from Zero Gravity. I had everything working, except the speedometer. I was trying to get the speedo working when everything went wrong.

I cut the wire to pin 50 on the red PCM connector. I connected it to the speed output wire on the TCM-2600. (when I say "connected" here, I mean that I stripped the wire insulation back and twisted the wires together by hand. I don't want to permanently splice anything until I get everything working.) Now, my car won't start. I get the "Security" light in the dash, and the starter just clicks when I turn the key. I figured the VATS got triggered, so I tried to delete the VATS from the ECM tune. When I tried to flash the VATS delete tune into the ECM, it gave me an error and wouldn't upload. Then, I disconnected the TCM-2600 wire from the pin 50 wire, and reconnected the pin 50 wire back to its self. I still get the Security light and now no clicks from the starter. I can still connect to the ECM and read/log with HPTuners, so I don't think I fried anything. I think the VATS just needs to be reset. The last thing I did was disconnect the battery. I figured I'd let it reset everything before I go any further.

Any ideas of what I did wrong here?

Try leaving your key in the on position for 10 min. It will probably clear it if it's vats

I just went to check for DTCs. After reconnecting the battery, I tried to connect the HPT Scanner program. It gave me an error saying the interface was found, but there was no power. I put a multimeter on the battery, and got about 7 volts. I'll put a charger on the battery and go from there. It's a red top Optima about 2-3 years old. It really shouldn't be bad or go dead from sitting. I was just driving the car about 2 weeks ago. I think something is draining the battery. Just another issue to fight with...

I dont know how the system you are using is setup at all. But pin 50 is VSS output from the pcm to the instrument cluster radio and ABS. So if the module you are installing is sending a signal that is capable of driving the cluster then you would need to cut this wire and tape it back which puts the module you are using to drive the tranny in charge and uses it's VSS output signal to drive the above items.

First steps first. Get a good battery and then have someone try to crank it and verify you have 12 V on the purple wire at he starter solenoid. If you do it's starter or cable or battery. If you do not then time to dig deeper and you need a scanner to properly perform diagnostics so you don't waste time and money.

Yep. That's basically what I ended up doing. I have the TCM-2600 from Zero Gravity. It is now running the pin 50 wire. Right now, I just have the wires twisted together. I wanted to make sure it would work before I permanently soldered them together. It does seem to be working somewhat. The speedo is moving, but it's way off. At 25mph, my speedo is reading about 150mph. I'll have to figure out how to calibrate the speedo in HPT. I suspect the VSS signal rpms (per mile) are off in the tune file.

The battery did charge back up. I was driving the car around this morning trying to tune the trans. I kept checking the volts every day, and it's losing about .1 volt per day with no charger or load applied. The starter and ignition relays are pulling about 120 mili volts with everything off. It's not much. I had to remove the starter to swap the trans, so maybe I knocked something loose under there...?
