CMP Sensor P0343 Code!…. Not a loose Cam Sprocket!..
I have a LS1 swap in a NBS Silverado, I have recently had some problems with it!…..
Initially when I bought it it had the same code up (P0343 - Camshaft Position Sensor A Circuit High). When I had the Transmission out I was able to replace the camshaft position sensor with ease. It was fine for a while, around 300 miles. After this time it had become hard to start taking more cranking to start, which then turned into popping through the exhaust while cranking and then eventually starting after a couple of goes, Once running it was fine, after another 200 went by I was driving it home and it cut out with some pretty immense backfires, at around 65/70mph!..
I pulled over and check fuel pressure and all seamed to be ok as a have an Aeromotive Fuel Filter/Regulator with return in the system with a fuel pressure gauge and was around 58/59psi.
I cranked the engine again it popped through the exhaust as it has been doing previously, on the second or third go it fired up and idled perfectly.
Unfortunately it did this another time on the way home but was able to get the vehicle started again.
since then I have:
*Check fuel pressure when it wouldn’t start
*Stripped front off to remove timing cover and cam sprocket bolts are tight.
can it be another Camshaft position sensor?..
The one I installed was a GM Genuine 19420911.
do I need to do a Correlation between Camshaft and crankshaft sensors?!?!?… 🫤
Any help would be much appreciated 🙏
