Question 98 Harness Removal

I am trying to remove the engine harness from my 98 TA. I am swapping to an 0411 PCM.
I know the 3 connections under the passenger kick panel, and fender plugs.

What else should i be looking for?

I am doing the same thing and have discovered that you are probably better off to re-pin your 1998 harness connectors (red and blue) to work with the new 411 PCM.

I have posted a new thread to try to get some understanding of cluster differences and how the analog/serial works with the 1998 cluster.

Trust me you do not want to pull the dash unless you absolutely have to.

Took me a day on the parts car. Did not break anything. But when you get to see the huge amount of wire (like a 1 inch diameter bundle) you will understand that anything you do there is not going to be easy.

Its easier to have the harness out to re-pin for the 0411. Connectors on the fender and under the passengers side kick panel, rubber grommet on the firewall you'll pop out and feed that part through. Rest of it is on the Engine and Transmission.

The blue and white connectors located on thw passenger kick panel, the two large connectors on the ECM, the three connectors on the passenger fender under the hood, the ground strap on the back of the drivers side cylinder head, the ground strap on the chassis near the ABS block, the wire to the alternator, the connectors for O2's, the connectors on the transmission, the a/c compressor, the starter, the two connectors to the ignition coil packs, the fuel injectors, knock sensor, crank sensor, cam sensor, map sensor, temperature sensor. the AGR connection if still there.

I think that covers it all and thank your lucky starts if you're not having to change or repin for the body control harness.

As long as the harness is done right where the connectors that plug into the car are correct the body harness is fine. I've done several.

I removed one from a 4th Gen V6 car and replaced it with one from a V8.

Wasn't fun.
