Idle timing in park
My idle timing in park jumps around from 26-34.
Idle rpm is 625.
Doesn’t this seem a little high?
Also, it’s a complete DOG in 1300-1700 rpm range. Here are live numbers in park:
@1000 rpm: 22
@1200 rpm: 17
@1400 rpm: 12
@1500 rpm: 9
@1600 rpm: 7
@1800 rpm: 20
@2000 rpm 29
@2200 rpm 36
@2500-up: 39
Surely those weak numbers 1200-1800 band are why this truck is so sluggish.
I know it depends on the vehicle but, what should these numbers be ballpark?
Thank you
You should check the low and high octane timing tables. There could also be some stupid timing modifier messing with your tune. Also make sure the nock sensor doesn't throw a code
For reference, my stock LM7 has 17-23 deg of timing at idle. Ther ECU uses spark for fine tuning of idle speed
It's worth looking at some factory tunes to get a sense of what's reasonable in that load-and-RPM area.
And 30 seems high for idle but if it idles well then I wouldn't worry about it.
