My '99 vette is throwing a P0449 code which indicates a defective evap cannister vent solenoid. The dealer says it will not affect the performance of the car but the car is bucking and losing power upon acceleration. My check engine light is coming on and off.
Could the problems be unrelated or is the solenoid causing all the driveability problems?
No other codes except this one.
Can anybody help?

 

only thing i can think of is if the vent is stuck open it could allow water to get into your tank. i dont see how it could affect performance in any other way. all it does is bring in fresh air when purging all the evaporative emissions to the motor, and opens when filling up so you can get fuel in there.
