you need a laptop and the cable and software
only place to get it is carputing
it's a tunign package so there is a learning curve, but this forum is useful for that
forego LS1 Edit and get HP Tuners instead better software, MUCH better scanner, version 1.5 was just released and includes Bi-Directional controls, you can get the cable with Input/Output functionality (Output can replace anything that you need activated off a scannable parameter... like say RPM and an output to a relay to control the nitrous solenoids? heh)
HPT is just a better product...
Learning curve is still greater than a predator ... as w/HPT you are actually modifying individual cells... you're actually modifying the fuel and timing maps yourself ... but read through this forum and HPT's forum (http://www.hptuners.com/) and it's not as scary as it sounds... it's actually fun
