Default Surging/Bucking...the saga continues...

I am really starting to get pissed. Reduce timing=surging and bucking. Add timing=a little less bucking. I have fuel...and air...WTF!!! Sometimes it goes away, but then sometimes it comes right back. How much timing is safe to run at 1000-1600 rpms without blowing up my engine? The darn thing seems to like timing at low rpms, but I don't want to give the car too much. I would imagine that it is safe to run extra with a cam because of reversion and lower cylinder pressures. Any comments?

i like to drive at like 12-1400 in 6th a lot of times and sometimes its smooth, and sometimes it bucks and surges like a bitch...even in the nice cold weather..i had no idea it was a timing issue..i just thought the cam didnt like it too much...on the other hand..wouldnt that create some knock retard?

I don't know, but I have heard that the trucks run more timing at low rpms than we do, and they have tighter lobe seperations stock. I think it is timing related. I have messed with everything else already, so I pulled timing and it got worse. This sucks.

I hear ya. I'm working on some surging as well. It's the worst trying to idle around in first gear.

You can add timing and fuel (lots of it at low rpm with no issue)
