Question FTC cell boundaries in late model Fbodies

Does anyone know why the FTC boundaries in an 02 Fbody are funky?

(RPM cell boundaries are 2500, 6502, 6503)!!

Why! Why! Why!

Thanks!

Brad

It still begs the question: What possessed GM to change the FCT boundaries in 2000? The stock 1999 FTCs have RPM boundaries of 900, 1400, 2200. In 2000, the FTC boundaries changed as well as the general shape of the VE table.

I read somewhere yesterday GM did it to make sure fueling was maximize for those cells by grouping the largest portions of the ve table together. this supposedly decreased the chance of hittnig an extremely lean cell and detonating. More for safety than anything else.

I think the user was wait4me and he posted on the HPTuners website

In reality, those later values may be bad (my opinion, for what it's worth). If you are programming your VE table and mess up, your trims may have to move really far and could cause it to go lean. The earlier values (which they kept on the Z06) are more useful.

Thanks! I assume the RPM boundaries are 900, 1400, 2200.

Yes, but I have been nudging them a little bit. I didn't feel right about having a trim boudary at 900 rpms, which is where I idle at, so I moved it to 1000. I may go adjusting the MAP boundaries a little too. They are a good start, but you should adjust them a little.
