yes it can but be very careful... last tme I used a USB adapter w/my Edit for a write I ended up having to have the dealership reflash the PCM (and I got lucky the PCM wasn't toast) ... You'd be better off w/a PCMCIA USB card ... or perhaps trading the cable in for HPT

As stated in a previous post...USB or PCMCIA card.
The PCMCIA card is more stable and much faster (especially with LSEdit). This is the same card (model #) recommended by B&B Electronics but cheaper. I got excellent service. Card arrived in three days.

If you go with USB get a name brand one. Not a $9 cheapy. I also have an IOGear and have good luck with it.
You might want to do a search, there is a specific brand name USB cable as I recall that some have had issues with. A search will give the name.
