Open loop for a cam only tr224 car?

Open loop for a cam only tr224 car? a customer of mine tuned by a "premier" shop in NJ was tuned in open loop for this cam...it is on a 112 but even at an 850 idle its like glass just doesnt seem like a cam that would need to be tuned in open loop...I told him Im gonna tune him in closed loop once he gets his heads on but wanted to get some second and third opinions on this...on larger cams obviously it becomes harder to keep the tune in check with closed loop but a 224?
