Built in load on demand- Will Handzel?? Wil Handzel, in his new book, says the Gen III/LS1 was built to minimize frictional losses. At idle the only real losses are from piston/ring scrubbing the cylinder walls and the end of the rocker arm sliding on the valve stem -therefore very little load at idle. Anyway, he states that they found that a load is needed for decent idle quality and that the engineers built in an idle load on demand. Is the AC compressor the demand load - on a Vette they run, at idle, most of the time-by default??? Not sure about the fbods.

So what happens with cars that were not equipped with AC? And is there a PCM difference?
