I've never used EFI Live, but have been using HP Tuners since they came out (almost a year now) ... I'm a carry over from the LS1 Edit days...

HPT is much easier to use than the previous solutions available... the scanner is great, they're constantly adding new features... they are actively involved on this board providing assistance to issues... they also have a very active message board for issues and tips...

HPT is the only software to support both V8s and V6s, the licensing scheme is such that I think it's easier to sell since there is no locking at all (other than 2 bar speed density) to an individual PCM ... if you buy it for a 2000 F-Body it will work on any 2000 F-Body, you get to pick 2 general licenses on purchase.

HP Tuners is releasing 2.0 of their software soon, which from a few screenshots I've seen should be even better than what they have now... as well as adding more functionality based on customer feedback...

Plus HP Tuners has been a board sponsor since mid last year, contributing to the support of this great LS1 site, and the software has matured over the course of almost a year now

yes, our new cable (v2.0) will be USB and support protocols required for existing V6, LS1, upcoming LS2 and others. Too early to give an exact timeframe. "In the next month" is probably too soon, "or so" covers it i think...

Will you still offer a serial cable for users with older laptops?

Yes.

We are not discontinuing the serial version. USB is horrible in a dyno setting where noise and length of cable from PC to vehicle in test becomes an issue.
