Idle question

Idle question I'll start from the begining. In October, I bought my sisters Escort. So the TA sat for almost 2 months straight, hardly ever been driven. I had the battery cables unhooked so if there was a slight drain, it would not drain my battery.
Christmas Eve, I get back to my parents house(where the car was at), and hook up the cables, start the car up and its running. I drove from PA ~> TX ~> NV(Las Vegas).
Here's my question. Everytime I start the car up, it wants to idle at 1300. If I pull out of my place, go 1 mile down the road, park the car(its off) and wait 30 seconds, start the car up and it idles fine at 800 and is fine the rest of the day. What is going on with my car...I already know she doesn't like the desert but is there maybe something on my Air Intake Temp Sensor and/or MAF? I looked at my stock program vs my current one(which hasn't changed since July) and nothing looks out of wack. Anyone have any clues?
