Default IAC Question

I wanted to make sure my IAC was working correctly. When I cold start the car up, the IAC is ~170 and it slowly works its way down. The IAC will settle to 40 when the car is hot. I get a little bit of surging during cold starts and wanted to eliminate the IAC. Hot starts are very good. The VE tables are set to 50/65/80 for 400/800/1200 and the F/A has also been adjusted.

Take a look at this thread:

I think the best thing you can do is reduce the authority of the IAC with the TB set screw, but not take it out of the system.

I guess I worded the question wrong. I just wanted to eliminate the IAC as a potential problem. I have access to EFI Live and will go out and adjust the set screw.

It is probably your problem. Your running airflow table is wrong and needs to be adjusted. I left a good post about that on here.

OK, well just unplug the IAC if you want to issolate it from the problem.

If you have cold start surge, is that an indication of not enough running air flow or too much?

Locking the IAC did no good for me. Unplugging it won't make a bit of difference. Then the PCM will bounce up and down off the high and low idle spark adjust thresholds, which is just as bad, if not worse.
