Default Questions about EFILive V7/Flash/Scan..

After much research it looks like this software is hot stuff. I do have a few basic questions that I needed clarified;

Is it true that you can make real time adjustments to idle like you can with aftermarket systems?

If you do a logging and find a problem area, can you also go to the specific timing/fuel MAPS to at the same time to make changes?

The base package states it comes with two lic. that will be used up as soon as it meets the PCM. Can you keep adding more lic. as needed?

Last questions is; what if a car has been programmed by someone else using LS1 Edit can the EFILive takeover from there or is there any locks that effect it.

Sounds like it is real user friendly!

Yes you can add more vehicles/licensing to the cable all you have to do is pay for the license and you will get teh update via email.

Yes EFILive will be able to take over after a previous edit tune

you can download, modify and scan anything from all supported cars/trucks, you only use/need a license when you upload a program to the PCM.

Log button should work, I have used it on 5 cars including my truck and my 98 which isnt even supported yet and none of them were licensed. You have to enter your serial number in both the scanner and editor ro get everything working.

The only time it locks when you program the pcm. Blackbox scanning does not require vin lock.

The thing i like is you can read any pcm without having to actually be vin locked.

Talking

I just started using mine and I love it. So much more user friendly than LS1Edit. It is like going from DOS to Windows XP. FlashScan is great....
I have six licenses with mine.

Yes, but the changes will not be permanent until you re-flash the PCM

Yes. When you play back the log file and highlight an area of KR you can open up your flash file and go to the timing table and the areas that have the KR will be selected.

John,

thanks for the answers. This morning I ready the entire HP Tuners manual. I can't decide if I like that software or the EFI Live!!!!! Both look like they will more then get the job done but will like to know of the real cool differences that would help a tuner just starting out.

Well, HP Tuners sponsors LS1 tech..

Also, the majority of conversation in ls1tech's PCM forum is regarding HP Tuners products.. Plus the forum on the HP Tuners site is also extremely active.

Maybe that will help.

I have HP Tuners and have used FlashScan. IMO, EFI Live has more features that are usable then HPT does. The only reason I haven't purchased EFI Live is due to the licensing. Other then that, there isn't a real comparison IMO. I would get EFI Live.

Also, just becuase a product is a sponsor, does that mean it is superior??

Tuning is tuning no matter what the package/software so, no your response prolly wont help since both products are on the same level. The only reason Tuners is talked about more on this site is because Live was released in Jan 05 and Tuners has more than a year of being released thus capturing a greater customer base.

From what I can tell the major difference between HPT and EFILive FlashScan is the versatility and flexibility of the EFILive scanner and the tight integration between the scanner and tuner.
IMO EFILive has long since been the best LS1 scanner out there.
