Default Fans low/hi, what temp to kick on?

Well I finally got my copy of Tunercat OBDII and I just started tinkering with it last night. Tried disabling the EGT and AIR systems since I removed all that stuff when I tossed the LT's on, but I still got the SES after 2nd crank. I think I know what I did wrong there but that's besides the point.

What temp are you guys kicking on the low and hi speeds fans on? I did a little searching but didn't find any info specific to fan engagement vs. temp so I was wondering what the status quo for optimal performance. The options I have are:

First Stage Fan On Temp - Over Speed =104.0 C
First Stage Fan On Temp - Under Speed =108.0 C
Second Stage Fan On Temp - Under Speed =112.0 C
Second Stage Fan On Temp - Over Speed =108.5C

Not sure about Over/Under speed though?? Any clarifications?

what thermostat are you running? I assume stock since your temperatures are pretty close to that, but I think that would be helpful info.

I just use the settings from the hypertech webpage for a 160*(F) stat which I run...which are:

Fan 1 on/off at: 184°F/175°F
Fan 2 on/off at: 194°F/185°F

If I had a programming tool (a real one), I would probably adjust the fans to come on a hair sooner than that (maybe 2°F, but that's just a matter of personal opinion.

Your settings (converted to Farenheit so I can understand them):
First Stage Fan (Off) Temp - Over Speed =219.2 F
First Stage Fan On Temp - Under Speed =226.4 F
Second Stage Fan On Temp - Under Speed =233.6 F
Second Stage Fan (Off) Temp - Over Speed =227.3F
which is pretty much the stock settings (or close)....

If I were you I would try the on/off temps from hypertech webpage as a beginning point and go from there; they use a more aggressive on/off than stock for their power tuning on a regular stat (which I am still assuming you have):

Fan 1 on/off at: 209°F/200°F
Fan 2 on/off at: 219°F/210°F

Great info, thanks and yes this is on thr stock T-stat. With only a lid, LT's and catback I don't know how beneficial a 160* thermo would be yet..?

My HPTuner and 160 should arrive this week or next. I'm glad I read this!
