Default 2001 computer in a 2000 truck?

not too familiar with the trucks, compared to the f-cars.

Anything wrong with putting in a 2001 computer into a 2000 truck? 4.8 if that matters?

I converted my 2000 camaro computer to a 2001 OS...
shouldnt have many issues...but you need to make sure that all the tables for the 2000 are in it before you try to use it...
If there was aeven a slight difference in the cam or in intake or exhaust or anthing...it could be disasterous...
of course it could run just fine too...
best to make sure all teh 2000 tables and stuff is in the computer

By the way..it took me about an hour and a half to copy and paste everything for my convert

Second reply, Thanks for the great positive answer to my question, reminds me why I don't normally ask questions, just answer them for others. Maybe this is why I have 111 times the number of posts you have since they actually contribute to this website, not just posting stupid comments on subjects. </rant off>

Since the f-cars have a different OS between those 2 years going to a single VE table in 2001 where the 2000 trucks have both a secondy and primary table just like the f-cars. It would make this easier to tune in SD just like the f-cars like to use a 2001 OS.

Since all of my expierence is with the f-car system I wasn't aware of what needed to be done to put a 2001 pcm into a 2000 truck, since they use a serial vats connection, unlike the f-cars. What needs to be done to allow the truck to start, just a simple vats relearn with a tuning program?

From what I heard works very well. Gets rid of the false knock reading the 99 and 00 have.

there is a setting in the tuner programs to turn off vats or change it from serial to vats or vice versa...or to just turn it off all together...
