AFR at idle and part throttle? Good or bad?

AFR at idle and part throttle? Good or bad?
I noticed my AFR bounces from 14.7 to 16.x at idle, is this normal? or am I running too lean? While cruising, it goes into the upper 15.x range down to 14.7. (part throttle) Should I be concerned with these numbers?
Please note: This is my first week with a WB (LM1 w/ LMA-2 kit) and new to tuning. I just got my copy of LS1-Edit about a week ago.

As far as I know, you want to tune those lean points out. Check the stickies in the forum regarding VE tuning and the MAF calibration files. That should help you clean most of that up.

Thanks. I'll checkout the stickies on the forum. So this isn't normal, right?
The reason I ask is because someone I know who's familiar with tuning says it's perfectly normal and it could sometimes reach an AFR of 17.x at idle. He's telling me not worry about it, but I find that a little hard to believe. I have a Vararam CAI and read somewhere on here that it tends to create lean conditions.
How high should my AFR max out at idle?
