Default torque converter will not lock

torque converter will not lock like it should, when I command it to lock it does. Ive set and rechecked all tcc settings, Ive disabled all misfire codes and map codes. Ive even gone back and reinstalled the factory tune and it still wont lock!!! Im at a loss, ever since I got the pcm reflashed to factory specs stuff has been funky. Other than the tcc not locking everything works fine.

Im gonna disconnect the battery for a couple of minutes and check all pcm connections. Other than that I dont know what else to do. Any thoughts are appreciated.

You have to change the low and idle misfire tables, not turn the codes off.

they should have the same effect, shouldnt they. Whether I change the tables or disable the misfire codes it shouldnt matter.
Then again I am getting a blinking check engine light with no dtc's what do you suggest I change the tables too.

Change all cells to 32767. With the DTCs turned off, the PCM still sees misfires. It just doesn't turn on the SES light. It is the detection that keeps the converter from locking. I even edit the mid rpm tables. I leave the high rpm tables alone and keep the DTCs enabled so if you get real high rpm misfires, you will know about them. Big cams usually don't cause false high rpm misfires.

Ok Ill try that, Ill reenable the codes and change the tables. I even turned off the se light for the codes and it still flashes like its detecting a misfire but hp tuners isnt reading any dtc's

If the SES light is flashing, you probably have real misfires. Large cam induced misfires rarely cause a flashing SES light. They will usually set a steady light after prolonged idling or low rpm running. Set up the scanner to look at cyl 1-8 real time misfires and see if any one or more cylinders is way out of line from the others before you change the misfire tables. Once you get the light to stop flashing, then edit the tables. What are the specs on that cam?

I believe it was misfires, even though they werent being reported the light was coming on. It does run alot smoother with the colder plugs and 40 gap.

Yea, I know it was misfires. I meand did you find anything specific that would have been causing the misfires. Was it any one or more cylinders or multiple random?

like stated just desensitize the missfires...you should have no further problems.

I desensitized the misfire tables and have no lights or codes,
torque converter still wont lock up unless I ccommand the silenoid with tuners. Went to an appointment today after the vehicle sitting for 2 hours it locked up and acted normal for about a mile, then all of the sudden it unlocked and wouldnt lock again. Im thinking now it is a possibilty of the tranny slipping and it wont let the converter lock.
any ideas Im at a loss here

What misfire codes did you turn off and are they all re-enabled now? Try and get that file off the laptop. Can you network it?

I did re-enable the misfire codes and set misfire tables to stock ran a scan #2 and #6 misfire standout over others even under way, I get some misfire codes. I set all misfire cells to max and now it will lockup so that means I have a serious misfire problem. Im including a scan of it

The stall converter throws misfires all out of whack. Change to enable/disable temp up to 141/142C

That'll solve it

I saw you changed the TCC settings. Did that include bumping up from 96-98?

Made a big difference on mine. The misfire tables did nothing for me.

sorry should have followed this post up what I did was to edit the misfire tables low and mid funny how I never ran into this problem before even with the same cam.

I logged the misfires and they looked like normal big cam misfires thats what I was told. Reset all the codes and its locking fine now.

this stall is a **** in a 5400 lb truck its looser than debby from dallas and it likes to set kr whenever it locks at low rpms in 4th

I hadnt desensitized the tables enough so it was still detecting misfires
