Tune & Dyno Costs???
Thanks!
Thanks!
Ask if they lock the tune and if they will unlock it they go out of business or you decide to buy your own tuning software.
Ask if the tune includes a driveability tune ( its starts, it idles, it doesn't surge, did they fool with line pressure, and/or it doesn't choke you death from gas fumes because it's running too rich). All of the previous occured with my first tune ($450...so essentially I had to pay another $450 for another tune).
Do they use a Mustang Dyno or a Dynojet? A Mustang Dyno (one that loads the motor at different rpms) is better than a WOT run on a DynoJet (IMO).
Get in writing what they did. (turned off knock retard...my first tuner had turned of knock retard and it would never go to open loop on WOT...believe it not or not...the tune was so bad we just reflashed and started over).
What software do they use > HP Tuners, LSEdit, or EFI Live?
Where I live, the odds of getting a bad tune are greater than getting a good one.
If they expect you to pay over $500 for a tune, then expect and demand the best or drive the car out of state to someone who can.
There are some very good tuners in Florida.
