Default How to Tune on dyno?

ok guys I've tried searching with no luck so please don't flame me.

I am going to dyno the car pretty soon. I have HPTuners 1.7 and have been doing some SD tunning driving around on the street.

The car is cammed (MS3), Lid, long tubes and exhaust. I have the VE tables dialed in pretty close but have not touched PE or MAF. I am going to be getting the enchanced IO and LC-1 in the next couple weeks but I just can't wait that long.

My question is this... with the wideband on the dyno how do I go about adjusting my VE tables, PE, MAF, etc as I will not be getting a nice histogram to go by. I am new to this but I assume there is just an AFR vs. RPM readout from the dyno right?

Any help is appreciated so that I don't spend tons of money on dyno time. Thanks

You need a steady state dyno like a Dynapack for this stuff. Its makes my SD tuning much easier.

I am going to be using a dynapack. Just curious how the wideband data is output? Should i just have the histogram open while i'm running on the dyno and just write down what the AFR is for the cells and go about it that way?

while I may be in the minority on this one, here is what I would do.

Set your PE table to what you want your air fuel ratio to be.

Adjust your maf to get the air fuel to equal what your commanding at wot.

A good part throttle VE table tune can be done on the street.

While you can put lots of time in doing each cell SD on the dyno, depending on what you pay for dyno time, it may not be cost effective.

I'll second that. Most tuners will adjust the PE multiplier until the wideband shows the AFR they want. The more "correct" way would be to command the AFR you want with the PE table, and adjust your VE table (for SD) or MAF table (for MAF operation) until your actual AFR is the same as your commanded AFR. This is for WOT operation. As far as the part throttle stuff goes, just do it on the street and save yourself a ton of money.
