Installing OBD-2 software - error messages

Installing OBD-2 software - error messages OK so I bought OBD-2 software a few years back and it worked fine on my portible PC.
However, a few months ago my PC crashed and I had to get a new hard drive. When I re-loaded the old OBD-2 software and tried to connect to the PCM in my car, I got an error message:
"software not registered"
So I contacted the manufacturor and they sent me a secrete code. The problem is that I don"t know what to do with the secrete code number. The directions were criptic like, "remove the "Off-line" dialog box and enter the secret code."
OK - where is the box for the secret code?????
