Default Another VATS question,,, did the search..

Ok, my buddies 2002 SS wont start after he got to work, Security Light is flashing. I went over with HPTuners, opened his tune, went to System, VATS and selected None, (it was on PWM). Put tune in, still flashing still wont start? Other than trying a spare key, or dealer, is there any other option or did I miss something in the VATS Delete process?
Oh yeah, the car will not crank or attempt to, fuel pump primes and thats it.
Do I need to possibly remove/unplug the BCM when VATS is disabled, if so, exactly where is this (someone had posted before behind the stereo is next to the DRL module?).

Searching still.....****, dont want to have to take it to the dealer! Someone has got to have an answer for this ****.

This is just a guess, but even with VATS turned off, maybe a bad BCM would keep it from starting.

Can the BCM be disabled/unplugged and the vehicle be operable?

Ok, well, Andrew found in the Electronics section how someone placed a resistor matching that of the key in-line of the wiring for the BCM/VATS. Of course we went to Radio Shack, measured the key at 1865ohms, but they have no resistor to match, tried a 2.2k, and a 1.5k, neither worked. Luckily I grabbed a 100-5k potentiometer, set it to 1866, and viola, Security Light (ended up steady lit, not flashing after d/c the harness for it) went off, and car started up. D/C the Potentiometer, security light stays on, but car starts up and runs just fine. Now need to find a resistor to match the 1865 +/- a couple and we'll be good. Looks like I will be measuring my key as well since my Sec Lt is illuminated all the time as well.

Yep yep. You keep calling needing last minute help, I keep working harder to figure the **** out, or reading more to fix it. Gotta love it. At least you have good timing.
