The SES light in my 2001 Trans Am recently came on, i took it to autozone and had them pull the codes and what they gave me was P0420 and P1416, they told me it was something to do with the catalyst system, but i dont see that happening, does anyone have any better detail on these codes?

P1416 is a bad passenger side air check valve, they get gunked up sometimes and stop working - easy to replace yourself, about $15 at a local parts store.
P0420 could be the post cat driver's side 02, but most likely the cat itself is bad - the cat is covered under federal emissions warranty for 8 yrs/80K - dealer will replace it free.
Both are fairly common codes, more info in this forum if you do a search for them - also search for P0430 and P1415, same codes just for the opposite bank. And welcome to the board.
