Idle problems?

Idle problems? My idle goes up and down between around 800-1000, and every once in a while I'll be driving and it'll randomly drop to 500 and then come back up to the 800-1000 range. 
Anything I can change at home without having to tune?
Also, car is running real rich, at idle I can smell it really bad. I'm pretty sure I'll have to a/f tune to get that right. Mods are in sig tell me what ya think!
