HELP!!!P0420 code

HELP!!!P0420 code I keep getting a p0420 code...usually when at higher rpms. the scanner said it was a bank 1 cat below threshold...so what exactly is the prob? is it the rear o2 at bank 1...the cat...or is there a motor prob that made the cat go bad. Oh yea....which side is bank 1

bank 1 catalyst low efficiency.
You might have a bad cat, or possibly a bad rear o2 on the drivers side. its bank 1 sensor 2. Or perhaps its smoked to much pot, po420.. lol.

hmmm...i guess i'll go with the cheaper option and replace the o2...if it is the cat, what would cause it to go bad? It's only a 2000...do you think it's running rich? i have noticed my tailpipes have more black soot then i would like

just to fill you in, the emissions system, (cats) should carry a 8 year 80,000 mile warranty no matter what. just check into it. my 00 ws6 pulls that code intermittently, and the rear o2's are heated, so they are pricey.
