Default hypertech or dyno tune

I have a '99 SS with a loudmouth. I'm planning on putting a set of pacesetter coated longtubes an offroad y-pipe and a whisper lid on the car. My question is, would I be better served with a dyno tune or with something like the hypertech programer?

Do you plan on more mods in the future?? Dont waste you money on a hand held programer, if you want a tuneing program look at hptuner well worth the money IMO. If your going to put in a cam or a H/C pacage wait and have in dyno tuned then.

With your mods there is no need to spend the money on a tune right now. DON"T buy the hypertech there are much better handheld tuners out there. PREDATOR OR VINCI handheld are the way to go. Otherwise wait for a dyno tune when you have more mods

Depending on the car, some even lose power with the generic hypertech "performance" tune. The Vinci tuner is the only one I'd even consider personally. HP tuners would be the way to go though.

I am planning a stroker in about two years. For now I am planning on doing all of the bolt ons and then mod the suspension and rearend to handle the new power. At this time I don't plan to put a cam in the stock engine.

If you want to do it right, pick up a copy of EFILive. You will definately want it when you get that stroker.
