Default speed density questions

this is actually for my new car, the magnum. apparently its speed density. it looks as though simple mods-intake/exhaust dont provide a real great gain...some people are blaming it on the SD setup, and its want to change whatever youve done to factory specs. theres no real tuner out yet to eliminate this. is this the general consensus with SD setups?

seems with maf setups, you throw something on, and the gains are pretty much instant and the computer doesnt argue it.

Default

If their sd works the same as ours (map & ve based) then changes to the intake before the intake manifold shouldn't matter, for example cold air intake, ported tb. They will result in a higher map without needing a new ve table. Changes to the exhaust would matter though. But you're right, sd can't compensate for changes to the engine's ve in general.
