problem with SES light, help?

Default problem with SES light, help?

i've owned my 2000 SS since june and since july the SES light has been coming on. i know it's 3 o2 sensors going out, but here's the weird thing (at least to me it's weird) only when i punch it is when the light comes up and stays on but when i drive like my mom it'll go off after a week and stay off. now my question is before i spend $300 on the new sensors, is there a chance it's something else maybe the tp sensor is erratic or should i just replace the o2's and see what happens? thanks guys

Before spending any money on 02's I'd post the codes here first. If three 02's are/going bad at the same time the 02's are probably the symptom, not the problem.

I think all those codes are coming from just the rear (postcat) 02's.

137 Low voltage B1, S2
157 Low voltage B2, S2
420 Catalyst system low efficiency, B1 (monitored by the B1, S2 02)

420 could be the 02, or a bad driver's side cat. I'd search the codes individually in the PCM diagnostics section on the site, should find lots of threads there. Your cat is stock right?

low voltage? can i fix that without replacing the sensors? as far i know everything on my car is stock except my poly uretheyne bushings

Most likely.
....and the SES light / codes COULD come up as related to the way you drive, although there is a real problem.
The way it works in many cases is, the pcm sees a problem for 2-3 driving cycles and sets the code (SES on, also). If after X number of driving cycles it does NOT see the problem, the SES light goes out.
So, the "driving like your Mom" analogy is probably a good one, as the code may only set under certain driving conditions.
Also, if you get an extra $120 thereabouts, the factory type Helms manuals will walk you through a lot of things to check for different codes. Oh, and you will need a good scanner.

thanks dude, damn good *** explanation. yeah my buddy works at a shop and used a mactools scanner, looked like a damn lap top!!!! yeah i think i'll just continue to drive like my mom till i get the sensors in

Mine was doing that and the idle wasn't consitant. A friend checked the computer and it was the throttle position sensor. The SES light would come on and stay on, then stay off for a couple of days then come back. My first thoughts were 02 sensors but it was the tps sensor. Just got through putting it in the car. Did the 20 minute memory ride and it's as good as new. It was only $47.00 at Autoway and no more damn annoying light!

thank you kitty, but my idle is just perfect . . . stupid o2 sensors!!!!!!! so when your friend checked the ecm it was the TP sensor? my throw 3 o2 codes hahahaha **** luck huh?
