Default cant get rid of this hesitation

HP2.0
346...stock ve...stock maf and tables....8.8:1 compression motor. 60# mototrons...215/215 114 cam

When i am cruising....let off the gas a little for a few secs...hit the gas again, i get a huge lean spike that causes a hesitation. My w/b will go from 14ish off the gas to pegged at 18:1 at tip in and then settle back to 14:7. Tried increasing ve....maf table....olfa table. Nothing seems to help. Now in HPtuners..while driving....hit the "open loop" button in "vcm controls" hesitation is gone. A/f is off .5 point but i dont think thats hard to fix.
Any ideas or clues by what i described?

Could be DFCO kicking in? Are you off boost at crusing rpm?

stock ve <--here's your problem, with a cam and different compression, your VE will be quite different. did you set up your IFR right for the 60#'ers?

hmmm....no boost just cruising....i think my vacuum gauge reads -12 to -14 when cruising. I have multiplied the WHOLE VE table by 1.3 thinking that SOMETHING would get better but it didnt...ill try again. IFR is at 67.46 i believe....boost/vacuum referenced regulator at 54 psi base fp.

if you can adjust your VE, how about adjusting it proper? it's easy, even though it takes some time and patience.
