Hypertech PowerProgrammer III - Help? :)
I just got my wife an '02 Firehawk. Previous owner had a hypertech programmer, used it once and "married" it to the hawk's vin, and then messed with (or paid someone to mess with) LS1Edit and changed some not-so minor details (edited # of O2 sensors, i believe) and now the programmer does not work, gives an "invalid stock" code. I'm thinking about getting the ecm reflashed at a dealership. I figure that should correct the "invalid stock" problem, but I also know that the programmer looks for a tune on start-up and if that tune is gone, due to the reflash, will that cause a different error with the programmer? Or is it possible to have the programmer reset?
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.. Thanks!
programming before tuning my guess is it won't
work-although I can't understand why anyone
with tuning capability would make additions
to changes made w/HPP3.
If you flash back to stock in this case, you can
send the unit to Hypertech and they may fix you up
(for a fee) if you explain the circumstances.
Best to call them and see if you can talk to
someone you can get some sense out of.
HPP3 is somewhat ok for A4 shiftpoints, rev limiter,
adjusting for a gear change, fan turn on temps.
I had lots of knock retard with their performance
programming.
