Default Tuning my WS6

This is a question for those guys who have gotten their car tuned at a shop, i will like to know what they do other than just change the air/fuel ratio, and pherhaps how much you paid for it? I just want to know if i should just buy a tuning device and do it my self.

I have not had my car tuned at a shop but i would think that what they do is very much based on your modifications. If you have heads and cam your going to need a lot more than just WOT AFR tuned. However if you are stock or very close minor bolt ons they may only mess with WOT AFR and timming. In my experiance hand held tunners are great for lightly modified and stock cars however if you get serious modifications more serious tunning is required.

I can tell you what I do at the shop I work at - I tune every car from the ground up whether it is headers/bolt-ons only, to heads/cam, all the way to forced induction. All of the tuning is done with a wideband and I start with the base tables and work my way through till they are all done. I prefer EFILive FlashScan for tuning. Much of the tuning is done on the street with some WOT pulls on the dyno at the end (or if the customer doesn't care about numbers it can be done on the street or track). A good tune takes from 4 hours for a bolt on car up to 8 or more hours for a forced induction car. A good tune is not done in 1 hour on a dyno!
