Security System Help

There have been a few times my wife has went to start the car and the security light has been on and it would not allow her to start it until the light went out 5 or so minutes later. Well it did it again today, however today when the light went out it still wouldnt start, turn over nothing! So she waited and keep trying and the light kept going out and eventually on the third or fourth try it started and has started several time since then........anyone got any ideas on what the deal is and how can I fix it??? By the way its a 99' Z28

sounds like the resistor in the key is going bad to me....
had a buddy with a similar problem....hehad to jiggle his key to get it in just the right position...

Thanks....do I just get the key replaced?
