I just recieved AutoTap, but my laptop doesn't have any serial ports. What do you guys use if your laptop doesn't have serial ports. I went to a couple computer stores and circuit city, the cheapest cable I found was $60. That cable was USB and had a serial port, but was used to hookup cell phones to your laptop. Will that work? The guy said it was a 50/50 chance of working. So where do you guys get your USB to Serial port adapter at a reasonable price?
Thanks

That USB device would have to have a driver that fools the OS into thinking it's a serial port so that AUTOTAP would see it...
You'll be better off getting a PCMCIA card that gives you serial ports IMO.

The USB connector will be just fine. It will come with a driver for your computer.
Go to Pricewatch.com and do a search at the top for USB Serial adapter. You will get the results there in the order from cheapest to most expensive.
There you will find exactly what you are looking for.

I bought one and it didn't work on my Compaq Presario 1200 and that was with a lot of contact with B&B so I went to CompUSA and paid alittle more and have no problems now.

The autotap company (B&B ?) sells them online I believe if you can't get one locally. If I recall the guarantee it will work with atap.
When debugging my atap I tried it on a usb computer with a serail adapter and it did not work so I got a refund. btw my problem turned out my serial port was dead so I got another cheap laptop.
