something started smoking
i wired my lockup switch today since my pcm is out of the car. i got the right wire and all, but heres the weird part. when it put it all back together, and pushed the button for a second or two, something started to smoke . i ripped it all apart and couldnt find out what was smoking. i pushed i pushed it again and it didnt smoke anymore. i have the switch in my ashtray, along with the slp fan switch/leds, mccord power plate/led. i grabbed the ground off the mccpower plate ground. when i pushed the button it would make the led for the mcpp flicker for a second. i decided to run a whole new ground from the engine, just to make sure there was no funny business . Got it all wired up, pushed the button and no smoke.
what do you think the smoke was from?? it was from inside the actual ashtray. think maybe a wire touched something it wasnt supposed to? any ideas of what fuses to check. the fan and mccp both work, so i dont think i blew the gound fuse. and the pcm isnt even in the car, so the other end of the wire pretty much goes to nowhere
also, whats the p/n on the TCS plate for the firebirds? i have so many wires in there that i aciddentally broke the bottom of it trying to push it on.
