Default Still need Atap with LS1 Edit?

According to Carputing, Atap is still needed. Was wondering what LS1 Edit doesn't monitor that Atap does.

ATAP does real-time monitoring of various vehicle statistics and conditions.

LS1-Edit allows you to download the computer programming, modify it and re-program the computer (hopefully with optimized, performance enhancing changes ).

Hope that helps!

The reason I'm a little confused is that when I went to Cartek for LS1 edit tuning, we pulled up graphs of my runs, and then made changes. Based on what you're saying, the graphs were produced by a program other than LS1 Edit. Then the changes were done by Edit. Before now, I was under the impression that Edit produced the graphs, as well as made the changes.

It depends on what graphs you were looking at. Could have been power, torque, or wideband O2 curves produced by dyno software, sensor data (e.g., actual timing, KR, MAF flow rates, ...) collected and graphed by a scan tool like AutoTap or graphs of static data (timing tables, fuel curves, etc) produced by LS1-Edit. Nothing keeps you from plotting/analyzing that data with other tools either.

Point is, you'll want to measure and evaluate the impact of your tuning changes and that's typically done with yet another tool. The Right Tool For The Job still applies

Ok, thanks for the replies, guys.

So to effectively track tune, I guess you want to run both programs. I have a feeling the learning curve for Edit will be much longer than for Atap.

The graphs in LS1-Edit give you curves for the parameter table values.

They don't give perfomance graphs.
