question about 02 computer ports
has anyone tried to tune an 02 car yet. we tried to connect ATAP up to it to run codes but it seems the pin configuration is different. or it may be that i have just lost a pin or one wasnt put in. from a 99 to an 02 the only difference is the pin in the lower left corner which seems to be the power pin for ATAP. just wondering if i need to go in for a replacement port or if we need to get with B&B for a different connector. thanks for any input.
Looking into the OBD-II connector that is fitted to your *vehicle*:
Pin 1 is Top left
Pin 8 is Top right
Pin 9 is Lower left
Pin 16 is Lower right
To be Communicate on J1850VPW (GM protocol) you need these pins:
2 = data
5 = ground
16 = Power
Full list of OBD-II plug pinouts

2. Bus + Line of SAE-J1850

Each new model year of vehicle needs an update to the scan tool software. GM vehicles in particular need this update, but Fords may not need it. You can see this with every scan tool that supports enhanced data. Even GM's Tech-2. This update for the Autotap is on the way, but the release date is not known at this time.
A second issue is with 2002 and newer Chrystler/Dodge vehicles. Some of these vehicles will not work with current scan tools without a hardware update.
