Default KR sensor attenuation

Anyone every try a resistor to ground to lower the knock retard signal at the pcm?

Yeah, I think it was NineBall that built a box for this. Do a search here (and LS1.com if needed) and you'll find it.

I have NineBall's design from the old TECH-LS1.com Forum. It's more of an L-pad attenuator. I was thinking maybe just a resistor to ground would do. If not, a varible resistor in series with high value cap to ground should work. I found the knock wires on my PCM I just need to check the signal level with a DMM or better yet O-scope from work.

Read about how knock sensors work on my website for the KO-Box. The link is in my signature.

Wiring a resistor in series with the K-sensor sometimes works, but can also set some SES codes if done improperly. The setup I designed uses no ground wire and the PCM still sees the exact same impedance coming from the K-sensors.

Thanks! Do you have any info on how much KR could cut your ET or MPH at the track? I always get 3-4°

Before I developed the KO-Box, I was suffering from 3-4 degrees KR, mostly in 3rd and 4th gear for some reason. On the Dynojet, this was causing about a 20 rwhp loss on my 450 rwhp setup. At the track I was losing about 3 tenths and 3 mph. Made me sick!

Thanks Tony, I've been runing low mph at the track 101 to 103 with an A4 that has lid filter and free mods. I'll try a verify that's false KR then order your KO box.

3 tenths! That equates to about 30 to 40 HP !! I just installed my KO box today and it works great!

If you have ls1edit, you can totally adjust the knock sensors, even by rpm.
