Ed Wright? I wanted to take my car to Ed Wright and have it Dynoed tuned. Unfortunatly they told me they are booked for at least 3 months. One option is to just send the pcm in and have it programed or to have a local do a dyno tune. There are a few local people that do it but they have only done a few LS1 cars. My question is how much would i gain with a dyno tune over just sending it in to Ed wright with the mods i have?
Re: Ed Wright? Ed doesn't think highly of non-stock MAF's. He has a hard time calibrating the MAF tables correctly without having the car at his shop. Mail-order tuning is basically a series of educated guesses, and if you want it done perfectly through the mail expect to ship your PCM back to him a number of times. Also, some things he charges extra for if not done up front. For instance, if you had stock gears, then 6 months later installed the 4.10's, I think he charges $150 or so to make certain changes after the fact.
Have you given any thought to buying LS1-Edit and doing it yourself and/or with assistance frmo other owners? If you go through a professional tuner, I'd insure that LS1_Edit can read their changes. Ed's newer programs will not be read by LS1-Edit - whether that's a limitation of the software or a security feature of his business has never really been determined.
With that said, he's obviously a very busy guy and he wouldn't be that busy if he didn't have a good reputation.

Re: Ed Wright? Mail order tuning is hit or miss and since Ed locks his PCMs you can't change them if you find out he's off; plus his change fee is expensive.
I'd get edit or wait until you can dyno tune at his shop. Maybe Ed will work a deal to get you something now and you can finish with a full tune in 3 months.
