Autotap Settings
I'm seeing a LOT of Autotap questions on the board lately (including mine). For the most part none to answered leaving us to post them on LS1.com to be answered. I can understand being tired of the same answer over again but as far as I know there is not a book, or a website dedicated to reading AutoTap logs. What would help us to learn, would be if someone took the time to write... what the average should be for the most important readings AND if the reading is off ... Then what to do to either raise or lower the reading.

As a side note (and not a flame but an observation) I have noticed as of late that us little known of guys (i.e. not the top 25 of this board) ask questions and they go unanswered. If you don't think its true do a search on my number 697 and see the majority are left unanswered. BUT if the question is asked by one of the top 25 guys its answered in the same few hours. This is getting very discouraging. I have been answering all of the question that match my skill level as I don't want to give bogus information, But I'm left to wonder why the people with the greatest knowledge seem to only answer the friends questions.

I don't consider myself an "expert", but a lot of times folks ask questions about data that's hard to decipher. For example, people ask about O2 mV readings and give you data at idle (the voltage will cycle). When posting WOT data, many times the data is a large sample and it's not clear what's WOT and what's not. That's when people should include a TPS % reading with their data, or better yet, trim out unneccesary data.
For example, when I do a "test and tune" run, at WOT I generally stick to:
Timing Advance
KR
B1S1
B2S1
RPM
TPS % / current gear (A4)
although I may mix and match depending on what I'm looking for. It can take a lot of runs and averaged data over time to get a handle on what's going on with the car.
1)get a handle on what you want to look at and concentrate on that data each WOT or cruise run
2)remember Autotap doesn't handle a lot of parameters logged at one time very well
3)At lot of people will help if 100 lines of unformatted data don't have to be looked at.Try to average data such as WOT O2s or timing each gear when possible.
Happy tuning and keep asking. That's how we all learn.

I don't have a dedicated website for AT but I do have a few pages on it. www.installuniversity.com then install doc then Auto Tap. I have sample logs as well. Not much but it's a start.

I would be glad to help you, but the only problem is know nothing about ATAP or ls1edit or PCM modication yet. But I may start sometime in the future? Good luck..........

I guess you've never seen a reference to:

http://www.c5forum.com/diy/ltft.php

This should answer MOST questions on WHAT to log, WHY, and how to adjust the MAFT to compensate for rich/lean conditions for BASE and WOT.

These are just a few of the threads I found doing a search... some basic info in them. I also found many references to the link someone posted above.

Let me know if it helps or not. If you don't get an answer email me personally, and I will try to help you myself, or put you in touch with someone who can.
