Default hi vs. lo octane timing tables

I've seen some posts recently about there being 2 timing tables, for high and low octane. Is there a way in autotap to tell which table is being used?

ask somebody with edit what the max advance is on the low timing table.. i think 24*? compare that to what you are getting..

if you are running 93 it SHOULD be on the high one unless you have really really bad 93 where u are.

it is always relearning and readvancing the timing so if it is low it should go up to normal with more octane.

Well, around 24 is what I've been getting lately, even though it used to be higher. I can only get 92 octane here, but I can add some xylene and see if that affects the timing.

I haven't seen any parameters that would indicate this. I know (on the C5, not sure about F-Body) that adding fuel (like 5 gal or so) triggers the switch to the high octane table. It falls back to the low octane table if it's unhappy.

I read somewhere that the computer resets to the high octane table when there is a change in the fuel level. It assumes that you got some bad gas and resets when you fill up again.
