I want to get the Edit system to tune my car.
I have a Ascentia 900N that was upgraded with an IBM 486?? brain.It runs Windows 95 and works well with Auto Tap.
Any chance of souping this oldie up?
If not could you tell me what a good used laptop for the Edit would cost?Throw in a brand name.TIA

never heard of the computer you have, but most stuff these days requires a pentium processor.
I suggest checking 'edits' website, I'm sure they list what you'll need. as far as upgrading what you have, I wish I could say for sure. but if it ain't a laptop you might not wanna waist your time. from what I understand you should use a laptop with your power voltage synchronised to your auto to prevent 'stray voltage' from corrupting any files.
as far as the best laptop, get the one with the most memory for the least amount of bucks. more memory means better response time with more stuff going on.
that's it in a nutshell. good luck.

Try the toshiba 660CDT. It is a older laptop with a pentium 150 processor. It is perfect for the car because it is small and can hold 2 batteries at one time. An extra battery can go into where the cd rom goes. This way you never have to worry about the laptop dieing on you while you are programming your car. I have seen this notebook going for 120 bucks on ebay.
or if you want to spend a little more than that, you can buy the one that i am selling, autotap is loaded on it now: http://www.ls1.com/forums/showthread...973#post610973
sorry the battery is dead, but i'm willing to throw in my jensen power inverter that is just a week old.
let me know, miki@apk.net
