I used 6200 shift points with a 6400 rev limiter when I headers and a stock valvetrain (I knew others who used 6400 shiftpoints too) so 6400 should be ok.

How does the motor sound up there? I would think it would start breaking up just as the valves started to float. I am wanting to up my rev limiter also but am still researching the limits. I feel with a set of lighter pushrods and retainers on top of GM's safety zone 6800 might be possible. But hell; with the retainers off, I might just as well upgrade the springs and 7k could be the window. But then at 7k the rod bolts may become an issue.

I've read some posts of bottom ends going south and ventilating the block at 6800. But from the 1/4 times these cars were running, it looked to me these motors were on no2 without proper timing retard and suffered from high rolling stress fatigue of the rod brgs.
