SES code P0704 what causes this?

SES code P0704 what causes this? I just got a SES light and checked it using a friends scanner. The code is P0704 Clutch switch circuit malfunction. On BMWs there is a switch at the top of the clutch and brake pedals. When these switches go bad they kick on idiot lights on the dash. Is this the same thing? Anyone run across this before?
