Default autotap connectors

I just purchased a new Laptop and it does not have a 9 pin serial port. So I went to Radio Shack and purchased a 9 pin to 25 pin adapter, this did not work. Anyone else have any ideas what I could use to connect to my laptop? It has USB and a 25pin serial connector. I also used the adapter on my home PC and it did not work on it, but the it has 9 pin serial and of course it works there so it has something to do with the adapter plug. Any suggestions?

The 28 pin is not a comm port, it is for printers,
you need to get a USB to serial comm cable, about $40 I think.

Don't be surprised if autotap drops the link or will not connect, thats a norm with that scanner :-(

The Autotap has no problems keeping a link. There are issues with some USB to serial adaptors though. Some of them don't work correctly, and thus cause the Autotap to loose connection.

I had the same problem. I called B&B Electronics and ordered Model # UC232A, USB to Serial. I don't have any problems with the connection.
