Do i need to reset computer?

Do i need to reset computer? I have recently installed a direct-flo lid, K&N filter, and did the ram air cut-out. Do i need to reset the main computer for these mods to get their peak effectiveness? I read somewhere that even after reseting the computer, it will eventually re-learn the stock settings and the performance will be nullified. Also some guy at a transmission shop told me one of the first mods i should do to my car is get the hypertech programmer, because without that everything i do will be useless. I don't know if i believe that one, the guy came across as an idiot who said he hated f-bodies. Anyway, what's your advice guys
