gutted cats,installed02sims...now REAL rich...help? i gutted out the cats and installed rear rksport 02 sims...now i am running super rich. The black smoke is very embarrassing...please help <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" />

Re: gutted cats,installed02sims...now REAL rich...help? hey man.. i see u got a big problem eh.. u posted this every where.. well i don't no what it could be.. but i would defindatly get those 02 sims either replaced or look at from where u baught them! i em making a cat by pass system for my car to! should be done bye the weekend.. so i'll let ya no if my o2's work good and if theres n e black smoke! just to see if thats normal without cats..bye the way what kinda exhuast are u running??? and how does it sound with no cats?
Re: gutted cats,installed02sims...now REAL rich...help? If the O2 sims were bad, I would expect an SES light. The rear O2s are not used to control A/F, they test whether the cats are working properly.
2 Thoughts:
1) you have a leak near one or both of your front O2 sensors. Recheck your welding/band clamps etc. Use ATAP and see if one side of your car has whacked LTRIMS.
2) You accidently damaged, changed or disconnected the front O2s.

Re: gutted cats,installed02sims...now REAL rich...help? It's normal to see more smoke out the exhaust after you gut your cats, even if your tuning is still correct. Your O2 sims are probably fine.
You should Autotap to see how rich your running, if at all.
After I removed my cats and installed sims I had a simular problem. After installing hypertech tuning and a ported MAF, my O2's and advance are right where they should be. LS1 edit tuning or a MAF translator would be better fixes though.

Re: gutted cats,installed02sims...now REAL rich...help? Thanks guys, i am going to try a few things tonite on the car and see if I can't fix it...the car sounds alot better with the gutted cats!
