Tuning WTF?

Tuning WTF? I set base at +15% to get Ltrims at 0 WOT, i set WOT at +2% to get .910 - .930 O2's at WOT.I race at the track and car is a pooch, i lean WOT down to -8% gradually and car picks up much. These results make me question methods of tuning as being incorrect. Should i set base at +5 and WOT at 0? It seems like common targets of tuners on here dont apply to my car or are just incorrect.
Fwiw my car is faster with out translator, i have almost every mod done except exhaust and headers.
