LS1-Edit ? 4 the More Knowledgable
'98 Z28 LS1 in a 94 Astro AWD with 94 4L60E.
Working great except I cannot get the P1860 code to stay OFF.
I have asked Ken several times to no avail and others who have had similar problems (me included with other codes) have been told to make sure the diagnosics are turned off in both places. This works for everything I had problems with EXCEPT P1860.
P1860 is the code for PWM of the lockup. My tranny doesn't have PWM of the lockup hence the setting of the code initially, but if it is turned off in diagnosics, it should not set the SES, Right?
I am open to suggestions and ideas here but please don't suggest updating the tranny. I tried that. A $1500 mistake. It doesn't fit in the space alloted to the tranny and major reconstruction is not an option nor is pulling the SES lamp. I have thought about installing the harness and PWM solenoid and leaving them lying in the pan but that seems like a disaster waiting to happen.
What have you other LS1 hybrids done to alleviate your tranny problems. Ideas please. I'll try them and let you know what works.
Many thanks,
Neil
It may be a sequence problem due to the fact that P1860 occurs so late in the list of DTC's. These issues are being looked at one by one, and slowly but surely they will all be resolved.
Try this:
Go into the editor and look at P1811. Pretend that 1811 is 1860 and turn both sides of it OFF (BOTH the light and the enable). If that works it will tell us that 1811 is "sitting" in the location that should be occupied by 1860. Then we'll know and it can be fixed.
Give it a shot.

I just reprogrammed the PCM. I turned P1811 OFF-OFF and lo and behold no more P1860. I will take a turn tomorrow morning (Sunday) to see if it sets but I'll bet it doesn't because normally it comes on as soon as you start the vehicle. Will give you the final say tomorrow.
Thanks,
Neil
Test completed and the SES is still out.
Thanks. Will you let Ken know?
